Location: CHSN Super-Destroyer, Designated: Vindicator, Holding orbit over Rim planet Dublin VI...
General Andrew Karron sat in a large black chair in the briefing room, a lit cigar in his hand. Pressing a button on a wafer-thin wrist computer, he spoke clearly into a mic inside his uniform's collar. "Attention, This is General Karron. All participants of Operation Nev-IV please report to the briefing room immediately. Thank you. He turned to the tall, grey haired man sitting in the chair to his right, and raised an eyebrow. "Captain Veilli, you know your orders. Disregard the directives given to the squad if they conflict with your own. Understood? The man, Tony, nodded sharply and ground his cigarette into the table, disregarding the ash tray. Unscrewing the lid from a small flask, he leaned back in his chair. So, General you really think the Khalirians are behind this? He inquired, taking a swig from the flask. The General merely shook his head and replied; That will be addressed when the rest of the squad has arrived, Captain. He said the last with a finality that very clearly discouraged further conversation.

Michael McKail stood in front of his cabin's mirror, staring into his own glazed-over grey-green eyes, lost in the past... (Note, i would appreciate it if you put Flashbacks in brown color)
The rain poured down from the black sky onto the ruined city, lightning flashed, illuminating the five-man squad of Modi-Commandos for barely a second before they were cast back into darkness. A CHS bomber roared overhead, dropping a stream of missiles onto an already-dilapidated apartment building. At the head of the squad, Michael McKail held his hand up in the gesture to 'stop'. Gesturing forward, he motioned for his second-in-command, Elizabeth Linn, to stand next to him. "You see that?" he gestured towards a small orange light flickering in the ruins of a government building. She nodded, and he continued. "That is our target. A seven man team of CHS specialists. Put on your masks, i'm gonna hit them with Agent 9*." The squad strapped on gas-masks and moved into positions surrounding the supposed camp-site. Michael launched a can into the building. The can immediately began releasing a bright green cloud, burning the eyes and lungs of the CHS specialists. Their screams echoed up to the squad, who, with a swift nod from McKail, moved in to secure the area. Michael stayed back to radio his CO. He had just established a comlink when he heard the gunshots. Grabbing his rifle from the ground, he hit the dirt and looked down the scope at the campsite. All hell was breaking lose, and two of his squad were down already, leaving just Elizabeth and Ivan. As he watched, a CHS specialist tackled Ivan to the ground, dispatching him with a knife to the throat. Elizabeth surrendered to the specialists who quickly bound her hands. The leader held a gun to her head and looked up, scanning the ridge that McKail was perched upon. We've got yer lady friend, you disgustin' half-breed! So, why dont'cha c'mon down here and surrender them weapons, and we might let'er go." Michael aimed his rifle at the man's head and squeezed the trigger. The man's head exploded into so much red mist, coating Elizabeth and the other specialists in a sickening mixture of blood and grey matter. The specialists peppered the ridge with rifle-fire, somehow missing Michael every time. He slowly eliminated the other five, leaving only one left- wait... where was the seventh? "Michael! Help me!" he heard the call too late, and as she fell, Michael put seven spikes into her killer's chest, and an eighth into his face.
Michael snapped back into the present as the Intercom blared throughout the ship. "Attention, This is General Karron. All participants of Operation Nev-IV please report to the briefing room immediately. Thank you. His ears twitching in irritation at being summoned by a human, he threw on a casual hoodie and flipped the hood up over his head. He stepped out into the hallway, bumping into another modi- what the hell's another modi doing on a human ship? He wondered, continuing down and into the tram. Slapping his palm onto the "Command Center" button, he leaned back against the tram wall. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael stepped out of the tram and right into a man in a flight suit. "Watch were you're going, mongrel!" grumbled the human, pushing past him into the tram. Seething, Michael trudged into the debriefing room and sat down in a chair at the opposite end of the table from the General and Captain Veilli.
"What's up, boss?" he almost growled.
* Agent 9 is a powerful chemical weapon. It's use was outlawed after the end of the Modi-CHS border disputes.

Vladic Nickatina sat in the corner of the Vindicator's armory, the dissembled parts of his GR-20 Marksmen Rifle in front of him. He had woke up early to inspect the rifle, as the pre-mission excitement usually kept him awake all night. He had throughly cleaned and inspected every part and mechanical device in the rifle, and was finishing up his inspection of the scope. The rifle was accurate up to 2000 meters, and could penetrate nearly any armor known to mankind. Glancing through the scope, he saw no cracks or blots at all. He changed the setting to 4x, noting similar results as the table seemed to leap at him, and checked again at 10x. Satisfied that nothing was wrong with the scope, he places it carefully on the dust-prevention tarp. Vladic then leaned back and yawned. There was nothing wrong with his equipment, no malfunctions, and no inferior parts. His eight clips of ammo, each containing up to 15 armor piercing MetaSteel spikes, were off to the side. His yawn was cut short though, as the comm crackled up.
"Attention, This is General Karron. All participants of Operation Nev-IV please report to the briefing room immediately. Thank you."
Vladic let out a small sigh and leaned forward. In a blur of motion, he quickly reassembled the GR-20. He had practiced this ever since he was accepted into the Marksmen program, and was quick enough to have the entire 163.5cm rifle assembled and stowed in under four minutes. After several satisfying clicks, Vladic wrapped the rifle in the tarp and placed it in the Special Ops weapons locker. Smoothing out all the wrinkles in his grey naval uniform, he turns toward the front end, ignoring the looks of the quartermaster and sergeant. Not everyday did a expert marksmen come through here.
"Big op huh ?" Asked the quartermaster, having heard the General's order. Vladic simply shrugged in response, and signed the checkout board. "Who knows. We all might end up seeing action before this mission is done." Marching out of the armory, he walks quickly to the lifts, and takes the elevator up several floors. The briefing would be in the priority room on the same floor as the command center. These few hours on the ship could possibly be the last moments of peace he could have before he got thrust into the hell that was engulfing the planet down below. He enters the briefing room silently, snapping off a crisp salute to the General before taking a seat near the middle of the table. Captain Veilli was already present, as was Micheal and he nodded to the two as he took his seat.

Leaning casually in full dress-uniform against the wall in the hall outside her assigned room, the Modi girl rested her head back and let her eyes lull as she awaited the briefing announcement... it was going to be some time today, she wasn't sure when but was far more use to being over prepared and ready to be early than risk being late. She took her job seriously.. well, as seriously as she could with all the disapproving glances or outright stares, her keen ears catching bits of unpleasant, whispered conversations of offhand comments. Heaving a soft sigh and letting her snowy white tail droop to the floor, she lost herself in thought. -Never figured I'd be hand-selected for an op... not so soon at least. I wonder if the Khalis are as thick skinned as people say...or if they're responsible.- The thought was fleeting, though she had images of the Khalirian race in her mind...
::Night had fallen and a light dusting of snow drifted around with the swirling winds 7 kilometers outside of New Yukon. Selene crouched quietly, balanced against a white-powdered fallen log, her eyes stuck on the pair of deer, both doe, a few dozen yards east and upwind of her position, the whispers of Dace in her ear as he talked her through identifying which to go for and why, and pointed out a small flaw in her grip on the composite bow. "Good, now you'll want to aim just behind thefront limbs.. about 2 ribs back, and click before you fire. They'll tense up up as they're hit and the wound will be cleaner. Oh come on, snow.. you've got it, just take the shot." She smiles and takes a breath, watching the deer in their innocent ignorance, looking over to her nearest neighbor and hunting-buddy. "Thanks.. It's such a nice scene.. I.. I will, it's just-" Her words would cut with a shocked gasp as a red glow painted grey-black smoke rising and spreading across the nightsky. It was in the direction of her home, some 4 kilometers to the west. She spoke up before her friend reacted. "Dace, Look!" She pointed toward the hellish glow with a trembling hand, the word tremulously leaving her lips, her ice blue eye wide with fear. "Fire! Snow, you stay here, I'll run home and get help, my family has a transmitter!! Please, don't go anywhere. I'll send help" The boy said in his own shock, reacting right away and jumping up to sprint North towards his own house, that daunting 7 kilometers from their hunting ground. The deer spooked and bound off into the more densely wooded area, Dace was gone.. she slumped numb against the tree as she clutched at what he had said. "St-stay.. Stay here?! No!" She said out loud, springing up and shaking off the terror-induced wooziness and sprinted toward her family... she closed off in her mind all the terrible things that could be happening. -The skin stores or the dehydrators... it might all be burning! What about Braden ? come on Selene, faster faster!- She urged herself on, the familiar burning in her thighs as she leapt the outer fence in a athletic hurdle, her ears perked and honed in for any sounds, signs of life, and she hear the distinct ~plikplikplik...plikplikplik~ and a ~POW~of guns.. -But father doesn't own any guns!!- She let out a cry of effort and sped up, she was only a little over half way and her mind was blurred with fear and she had a cold lump in her stomach. hopping branches, roots, ducking more branches and hurling herself over the Tear Mountain River.. which was a mere stream this far from the moutains. Landing on the west bank, she gaped wide-eyed and pale with tearcicles on her cheeks...::
"Hey you, Frostbitch"
"Forget it man, she's a freak... A lost cause. Let's get some grub."
"No way, hang on. Hey.. look at us when I talk to you, furball!"
"Dude let's just go.. if an officer gets wind of harrassing, we'll-"
"We'll what? get ~frowned~ at? Hah, hell Jenks.. we could probably beat her fuzzy white ass and get off with slaps on the wrist. Modi's -AREN'T- people... You hear me? Kitty? Dog? What-the-fuck-ever? You better stop making us look bad in the assessments or the CO's will have to guess who got jumped before even thinking about who to pin it on. Hah!"
"Whoa man.. come on, you're gonna piss her off, have to kick the shit outta her and then we'll all get discharged. Let's just get out of here.."
"Yeah.. she ain't worth it, even though I doubt I'd even bruise my knuckles.. Haaaahahahah Hahah hahar.."
Stern voices roused her from her daydream.. or daymare more like. She kept her eyes lidded as the voices continued, knowing she was likely just ignoring them. The insults were nothing, he was just a jealous man trying to find a way to beat her at something... Blackwell, she thought his name was. She had first run into him in scout prep program at the academy and had trounced his scores by embarrassing margins in it. She figured his grudge started there. And he was.. a sharp-tongue human. She refused to be baited by him, though, and only flicked her eyes open to glare coldly at him after his more threatening insults, her jaw clentched and ears pinned forward while hairs stood on end along her back and neck. She struggled to hold in a growl as the man's friend finally pulled him away, the two sharing a laugh at his last stab at insulting her. She heaved a sigh and pulled away from the wall.
"Attention, This is General Karron. All participants of Operation Nev-IV please report to the briefing room immediately. Thank you."
-Finally.. thank yoooou General.- She thought, perking up immediately with something to distract her from the anger. She wasted no time, cutting down a corridor dedicated to infantry officer housing, nearly getting run down by.. -wha? who the fu-.. That was.. another Modi!- She thought, dumbstruck, having not see a single one since being assigned to the 'Vindicator'. She glanced after whoever it was thoughtfully, heading toward the stairwells, much prefering their near-peace to the stares and glares she knew awaited on the tram-lifts. She took the steps quickly, working up a pant as she reached the deck and proper level, counting off her pulse as she caught her breath before heading toward the briefing room.
She approached just in time to view the same Modi she's bumped into get shoved past before ducking into the room she was heading to. -Oh.. well, there's a twist.- She thought curiously, though the fact that she wouldn't be singled out on her first assignment aboard was a big relief and put her into a pleasant mood, even after the tongue-lashing only minutes earlier. She stepped into the room and offered a salute. "General Kerron, Sir." She spoke with forced confidence, though it was clearly tinged with discomfort. She ordered the salute and found her seat a couple chairs away from Michael, giving the captain a respectful nod and another for Michael if he had opted to note her approach and one again for Vladic, whom she had seen several times on the long range decks.. he was quite a reliable shot, for a human. And had never spoken a cross word to or about her.. well within her hearing, at least. She was rather curious about a mission for which -TWO- modi-humans were hand-selected. Her blue eyes lingered on the other modi a moment before she settled into her chair, cross-legged.

"Are We all here? Good... Good!" The General looked around the table, eying the operatives that had been selected for this task. He focused on the newest arrival, the Modi girl, Selene. He'd read her file. For someone so recently out of training, she was dangerous, and skilled. He swapped his gaze to Michael, the insolent pup. He'd hand-picked the Wolf-Modi for this mission, but he wasn't sure he trusted him.
"Alright, Ladies and Gentlemen, here's the situation." He tapped a button on the armrest of his chair and a holographic map of Nevada IV popped up in the center of the table. "We've lost contact with an outer rim colony; Nevada IV. A total communications blackout- hell, even the comm channels they used seem to have ceased to exist." He looked around at them, an orange glow was cast over the now-darkened room by the bright orange hologram. "The council has assumed that the Khalirians are behind it, and given our history with the Empire, i don't blame them. But, it doesn't make sense. The Khalirians know they couldn't defeat us by hitting one colony at a time, they'd launch a full-scale invasion." He pressed another button on the armrest and a blue marker appeared on the map, hovering over a small settlement. "You're being sent in to investigate the blackout. You'll start here, Rain, a small mining community, and from there you'll head to Arkas. You're objectives are simple; Find out what happened. If it's Khalirians, do what you can to fight them... If it's just an accident or it's something else, you must contact us ASAP... you have three days. If we don't hear from you before that three days is up, we move against the Khalirians... Understood?" He looked around, meeting each soldier's eyes, trying to pass to each of them the urgency of the situation. "Oh, and before i forget... There's a known felon and rebel on the colony. A human woman, by the name of Alyssa Bradley. Take her into custody if you should stumble across her... she's a high priority target... but, be wary, she's dangerous."
He clicked a button on the armrest, and the Hologram collapsed. "You'll be taking a Jefferson Class combat shuttle to the settlement in an hour exactly. I suggest you gather your gear and requisition anything you're missing at the armory while you can. A special meal has been prepared for you in the Mess Hall..." he smiled at the squad now. In the darkened room, it looked more like a grimace. "No military rations for this one... I've set you up with the first good meal any soldier's ever had on this ship. Dismissed!"
------------------------------------------------- Antonio watched the squad members arrived, his nose wrinkling in disgust at the two Modi-Humans. He hated those disgusting half-breeds. But then the General started to talk. He snapped to attention, smirking as the General explained his disagreement with the Council's idiotic assumption. Well, Duh... The Khalirians didn't almost beat us last time by being stupid... His smirk grew wider as the general reached the subject of Bradley. He had a score to settle with that woman. I'll get you yet, bitch. He thought, unconsciously tracing a knife scar on his stomach. Then the General mentioned a Jefferson Class shuttle. He paled.Oh great... a crater-maker*. But, he was cheered slightly by the thought of a good meal. Saluting as the General dismissed them, he strode out the door towards the Mess Hall tram, deliberately shouldering the female Modi on his way out- the Male was out of range.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Michael sat in his chair, bored out of his mind. He looked up, and was surprised to see the girl he'd bumped into earlier giving him a polite nod from another seat at the table. Two modis being sent on a special op for the CHS? isn't this interesting... He straightened his jacket, and nodded back, a friendly smile on his face. He would've waved, but the General had begun speaking. Going to a human rim colony made him nervous- Most humans were none-too-friendly towards Modis. He nodded in agreement with the General's assessment of the situation. It couldn't be the Khalirians... they're not this sloppy.... Then the subject turned to the rebel woman, Alyssa. His eyes widened in surprise; It couldn't be the same Alyssa from?... nah. Just a coincidence. He, too, grimaced at the thought of a Jefferson Class.Oh great... those things are damn deathtraps. He hopped up when the General dismissed them, and saluted. He noticed the stupid-looking human captain shove the Modi, and growled under his breath. He approached her, smiling, and tapped her on the shoulder. "Hello, Miss. I'm Michael." He held out his left hand, offering a handshake. "Erm... Would you care to sit with me in the Mess Hall? these humans make me nervous." he added in an undertone, casting a suspicious glance at the humans as they got up and left the room.
* Jefferson Class Shuttles are known for their weak armor and easily-damaged engines.

For a moment Vladic remained seated at the table as everyone rose and headed to the mess hall. Not that he had any questions, especially concerning that there were TWO modi's on this mission, and more importantly that he hadn't assigned a spotter for this op either, but to discourage any attempt from his squad mates from interacting with him. He rose, saluting the General, and turned towards the exit, watching passively as Veilli shouldered the smaller modi girl out of his way. Not that he had any ethnic issues with modi's, but contrary to his established reputation as a self imposed loner, he did not wish for friends of any kind, human or modi. He gently brushed past Michael and the female modi, putting his head down as he flicked away a microscopic thread that had attached to his uniform.
Safely in the hall, he proceeded back to the armory. He wasn't interested in food at the moment. Vladic's main concern was making sure his kit was prepared and stowed immediately. Would he need a ghillie suit for this op ? Probably not, as the General did not indicate a need for stealth. So why was a sniper, two modi's, and a possible racist captain being sent to investigate ? Hopefully some conspiracy wouldn't result of this. He returned to the armory he was at previously, nodding to the now-alone quartermaster as he signed himself back in. Checking out a duffel bag, he begins to fill his kit; eight ammo magazines, flashlight, combat knife, a basic first aid kit, and a dual Thermal/Night Vision headset. He also secured extra batteries for his electronic equipment and grabbed a G-15 Machine Pistol. He hoped the General and command staff understood he was not a close quarters combatant.
Returning to the front desk, he dumps the gathered supplies in front of the quartermaster. "I need this stocked and stowed in the Jefferson Class Shuttle in about half a hour. Make sure the GR-20 is stocked too, and try not to fuck up the condition its in. General's orders." Special Ops members had their privileges at least, which somewhat made up for the usual suicidal missions they were sent on. Signing out quickly, he made his way back to the mess hall, hoping that there was a small corner he could seclude himself in. Maybe even get a message to his father. Dear Dad, they are sending us without reliable intel to investigate a downed colony in a ship that might explode before we land. See you when I get back ! Yeah unlikely. He stepped off the elevator as two others stepped on, walking a few paces while the elevator door closed behind him.

Selene nodded solemnly throughout the major points of the operation, scribbling encoded notes into a small flip-pad, writing down location names, specifically mentioned side objectives, and of course the name of the rebel woman... "Alyssa Bradley". She wrote it uncoded and underlined it, for memorization's sake. She knew even with her medications she could be absentminded about side-tracks and detours. The other's reactions about the transport method was a touch unnerving to her and she teethed her lip thoughtfully, knowing what aggrivated veterans was likely going to be unpleasant.
She sat up straight through the briefing, ears perked attentively and tail-motion under control, her sharp blue eyes darting to catch reactions and personality slips from her "squad-to-be", making a mental note to try and smile more.. -Smiling projects friendliness and will help biuld trust with people you're going to be sharing life or death with.. good impressions, Selene, good impressions.- She thought to herself encouragingly, right as the General announced them to be treated to a first-class meal before deployment. The thought of real food brought happy smile to her lips as they were dismissed, which she flashed to the general, presenting another salute for their dismissal. She ordered it hastily with an uncomfortable flush of color, gathering her notes and heading for the door.
"Gah!~" She gasped as the Captain of all people shouldered his way past her, knocking her pad and pen from her hands and sending her bouncing into the doorframe with a grunt, staring after the man in silent, wide-eyed disbelief after suppressing the reflexive growl that tried to rise in her throat. Her face settled into a sullen and angry pout as she squated to gather a few stray sheets of paper and the pen, though keeping her peace, not expecting anyone to speak out against unfair treatment now.. and against an officer, she avoided looking at Vladic as she made peaceful passage, all clean-cut and over-proper. -Everyone must think I'm just some frail snow flower.. awaiting someone to coddle and tend to me.. bleh, at least hatred isn't so empty as the mild neglect I get from everyone else...- The thought was bitter and soured her mood slight. Luckily for finding racism in an officer, was would find a friend in a peer.
She flinched away from the touch on her shoulder, stepping aside with a flatly murmured "s'cuse m--". After settling back into her quiet and over-polite shell she paused mid-word with another flush of color rubbing the back of her head with a flicker of a snowy white ear for being so skittish. She smiled shyly as the other Modi introduced himself and offered company. Blinking with awkward curiosity at the outstretched hand before nodding twice after he had finished, a small smile painting her features. She started toward the mess hall with Michael, her room was on the way to dinner anyway, so she couldn't think of any reason not to enjoy some rare company. She couldn't bring herself to speak the entire way, however, even after stopping by her room to gear up her duffle and snag the rest of her uniform, telling herself it would be polite to at least introduce herself... even though uniforms were named, numbered, and ranked. She looked toward him to do so twice along the way, but made excuses to herself to remain quiet, a common thing she did to everyone. Even to the rare civil humans and rarer still, POLITE ones.
"Thank... um, thank you." She said finally, after taking the last step of the stairwell. She had subtly encouraged the use of the stairs without a word, sticking to her solitary, avoidance, and cardio habits. She spoke rather softly, her snaggletooth fang nipping at her bottom lip, still embarrassed about the whole scene with the Captain. The Modi man's random kindness, though explained easy enough, still felt almost like pity-attention after the long months of quiet when the only words given to her were orders, sharp admonition and correction, or scathing and oft ignored and unreturned insults. "For the.. uh.. the invitation, I mean."

General Karron looked on with disapproval as his handpicked captain abused one of his subordinates, frowning. Veilli was a good, loyal human, but dangerous and a great bigot. Karron disliked the man, but couldn't deny that he got results. He watched as the former war-criminal, McKail, made nice with the only other modi. Not a surprise, honestly. Modi-Humans, as a whole, have a tendency to clump together in protective groups when in unfamiliar territory. The Psyche officer said something about it being a side effect of the modification. Karron poured himself a scotch on the rocks and activated his comm unit again. "Gunney Anderson, you there?" At the man's assent, the General continued. "We need support personnel for the upcoming op. I need a spotter for Operative Nickatina, a Comms officer, and I want two riflemen assigned to the team." He listed them whilst counting on his fingers, and when he finished, he waited for a confirmation. The Gunnery Sergeant's reply wasn't long in coming. "Hmm... For a spotter... Private Luisa Norwell. She's a bit wet behind the ears, but reliable.. hmm... I'll handle comms myself, because the only other officer who knows how to work a C-90 Mobile Platform is in Med-Bay with the Pavarian Pox.. and for riflemen we'll have Jenks and Blackwell." The General nodded and closed the comm channel, taking a sip from his drink and walking towards the tram to the Officer's quarters. --------------------------------------------- Antonio burped loudly as he finished his third chicken leg, and pulled a plate of steak and shrimp over to him, cutting into it and taking a bite, chewing slowly and thinking. Hmm... This mission has ups and downs all over the place... I can't believe i'm gonna get another shot at Bradley! that bitch is gonna pay... but two Modi's on a team.. one of them a damn war hero from the Modi-CHS disputes! Bullshit... And a Jefferson Class shuttle. Hoof. The general wants us dead or something. I smell a conspiracy! He chuckled to himself at the thought, spitting a bit of gristle out onto his plate, making a noisy, disgusting splatter. --------------------------------------------- Michael walked next to her, thinking of ways to start a conversation and finding none. He'd never been a good socialite, at least, not after Operative Linn's death. He enjoyed the modi-girl's silent company immensely though, and smiled at her whenever he got the chance. He got the feeling that she was skittish, or didn't trust him, and frowned to himself slightly. He nodded and smiled when she thanked him though, hoping she was opening up a bit. "It's no problem. I'm actually really thankful that you let me walk with you. It gets lonely on this ship with no other Modi's around... especially for me. Humans... don't trust me. Heh.. and I don't blame them..." he paused for a bit, lost in bad memories and shook his head. He brightened as they reached the cafeteria, eying the salad bar appreciatively. He smiled at the girl before walking over and assembling a monstrous salad- one that looked more like an explosion on a plate than a salad. Upon sitting down, he attacked the salad, his vegetarian tastes showing clearly. He polished off most of the salad in a few moments, eating cleanly and politely. He examined the girl quietly, gauging her age. "Did you fight in the Modi-CHS border disputes?" he asked quietly, breaching the question he'd been waiting to ask.

The cafeteria was usually noisy, messy, and generally more active then any grade school level alternative. Today was rarer, quiet and peaceful day. A soldier's diet was high in vitamins and calories, so the selections available of course ranged from entire meals to light snacks. There was no real sense of time when moving around deep space. While advanced computers kept track according to Earth-based time, the passengers of the Vindicator did not abide by it. Being of command rank and the base for special ops missions, agents and officers were generally on the move, being confined to tight schedules. This meant that missions could occur at any time, orders had to be issued, and operatives had to be kept at maximum combat readiness. All support departments and facilities had to keep equipment at top-notch quality, and food was no exception. And because of the relative ignorance of time, breakfast, lunch, and dinner was practically served simultaneously. You would never know who would be returning from an mission waiting for a nice warm dinner or who might be awaking from deep cryogenic sleep.
Vladic picked up a tray and moved patiently with the cafeteria line. From what he could tell, the majority of the people were technicians and corridor guards. Other than his squad and himself, there were few actual soldiers present. Turning his attention back to the food bar, he moved silently down the line, naming and rejecting every selection there. Quit trippin', he thought to himself, your just not hungry. Grab a carton of milk and sit down. Leaving the tray, he grabs two cartons of regular white milk. A good source of calcium and all that other good stuff that they taught in school. Turning around, he glances over to the tables, hoping to find a seat where he could just relax and ponder about the upcoming mission. He saw the two modi's, one of them munching down a salad that almost made him reconsider his not-hungry mood. On the other side of the cafe was the Captain, eating a more protein based meal. However based on what he knew about Veilli, he wasn't the type of man he would like.
