He laughed softly, a sound that was not nearly as comforting as the act suggested.
"Of course I see it! I've been waiting for it since the very moment the seals were put in place. Weren't you?"
Sikarsis shook his head disapprovingly, making light clicking noises. When he spoke again, it was with the chiding voice of a teacher scolding his student.
"Suki, Suki, Suki....I really expected better! Think about what you are....what we are. There is nothing natural to what we do. Commanding the arcane to perform unnatural feats. Bending and shaping reality to our whims, for our goals. Why those cute, furry ears of yours are a testament to it all; there are certain things that simply go against the grain. The blight may be one. But so is the very container that holds it. Even the power of the gods wanes with time. All of it, twisting, writhing, changing....entropy is the only course. You cannot stop it. You can only brace yourself, and hope to survive it."
His eyes closed for a brief moment, smile growing, as he contemplated his own words. Opening them once again, he returned his gaze to her and returned to his amicable state.
"But you're absolutely right, of course! I didn't come here to fight you. Despite what you may think, I'm actually rather fond of you...you've done so much for me over the years. On the contrary, I'm here to help you..."
Here he interrupted himself and raised a hand, accenting his words with precise, punctuating gestures.
"I'm not here to stop the blight from being released, nor am I here to help you stop it. You cannot. I am here to make sure you survive the curse more or less intact...and to keep my eyes on a few other agents like yourself. Think of me as....your guardian angel."
He finally stepped out from behind Iris, approaching Suki. A charming grin on his lips, he extended a hand and cocked his head sharply to one side.
"Friends?"

Iris had already wandered off, nibbling on her treats happily. Suki crossed her arms as a bird came to perch on her shoulder. Another of her familiars. The less than cheerful glance on Suki's face as she glanced at his outstretched hand said more than enough, yet she explained herself none the less.
"I've seen what happens when you touch people...I don't be thinkin' so."
However Suki gave that famous little grin of hers and nodded her head. She was a dangerous gal to hang around..but so was this man..if not more so than her. Suki's kind of company.
"I'll trust you..for now." Suki said, turning her head and beginning to shout upwards now to the boy in the closet. "Hey! Boy! You can come out now! Make it snappy!"
Regardless of him hearing her or not, Suki sent Iris up there to go get him. Though it would take her a few minutes to get her barrings without sight. The pearls could only light the path for her so much, the rest was simply trial and error. Once Iris was set on her goal, Suki turned back to the strange being and placed her hands to her hips, perplexed by the mystery before her so far.
"I don't know that much as it is..so any help would be alright I suppose. I usually just keep pests away from the Telemanthros Seals..I can't tell you much about this mess that you don't already know..is there anything you're not sharing with me?"
"Fair enough though..

Once Iris reached Allen, it would take it awhile to wake him up. Once he'd been jostled from his sleep, he would leap down from a window, land in a tree, then jump down from there. His eyes widened as he spotted Sikarsis.
"Hey! I remember you! You ran that shop I always went to when I was seven..." He stepped forward, but was careful not to touch him. "Where'd you go?"

"Anything I'm not sharing with you? That's certainly a ridiculous question....there are a great many things I'm not telling you..."
He gave a slight shrug as she refused his hand, as if the matter was of little consequence; though he grinned, knowing she was well aware of what the gesture could have entailed.
"Ah well. Can't blame me for trying, hmm? Still, where to begin...well, if you're looking for help, I suppose the easiest route would be to put as much distance between yourself and this place as you possibly could. But you're not going to do that, are you? Evacuating the town wouldn't do much, at this point...in fact, I'm not so sure it wouldn't kill them. It's been a slow leak...but different than before. More acute. More pervasive. If it were something with a mind, I'd say that it has had plenty of time to dwell on its anger and plot revenge. But that's silly, isn't it?"
Sikarsis folded his hands behind his back, one clutching the other, and began to casucally circle the powerful woman as he spoke.
"Remember...not here to stop it. Cannot be stopped. Should not be stopped. Change is inevitable, you can only hope to adapt with it. But then, I'm sure even you have a few enemies. Rivals...up and coming mages, fighting for your position...the merchant who cheated you on a price? Think of the blight as a sort of....thinning out. If you wanted to expedite the process, we could always try smashing the statue!"
He laughed as that particular image entered his mind, and the ensuing chaos it could possibly bring.
"But you won't do that, either, will you? And sadly...I cannot. There are rules, oh yes! We must have rules for this kind of thing..."
Sikarsis' pouting and sarcasm ended as he spit the last words bitterly, clearly unhappy with whatever forces were binding his actions and staying his hand. Spotting Allen, he offered a brilliant smile.
"Allen, how wonderful to see you again! I've been off....well, I suppose you could call it a kind of quest. And a very unhappy imprisonment. But the shop is open once again, and that particular jailer won't be bothering anyone ever again. Greed and pride are terrible things, lad...they drive people to do foolish deeds. Don't let me ever catch you up to those kinds of tricks!"
He laughed, his path changing in a direction that would lead him out of the ruins.
"I would suggest gathering your things...there is nothing to find, here. And the stagnation of the place is beginning to stifle me."

"Wait, wait...let me get this straight. The statue in the middle of town is full of blight?...who put it there and why?"
Allen was confused. His generation was largely unaware of the battle that had been fought. All they knew is that there was a wasteland of tainted ground outside the village. A desert of demonic scars.
"Is...is it like the blight that's outside the ruins? Was that blight put in the statue? Is it supposed to be symbolic that a likeliness of Sam was used for the seal..?"
Allen tilted his head, trying to wrap his mind around all this.

Suki rolled her eyes, taking Iris by the hand and beginning to walk with her back towards the town, or at least the exit to the ruins. The annoying questions coming from Allen haunted her ears constantly and finally with a snappy reply she turned to him
"There are many things you don't understand...you're a little too young for that. Bottom line...don't screw with the statue..is that so hard?"
Suki continued along as Iris turned her head and mouthed the word 'sorry' to him, apologizing on Suki's behalf for her outburst. She liked when Suki led her, she could move a lot quicker this way and having the protecting embrace of her guardian was very comforting.

Allen sighed and followed them, turning a glare on Suki when she was not looking. He hated being treated like a child, refused to tolerate it. None the less he kept his mouth shut, since she could blast him to pieces if she felt so inclined.
